Jewellery is made to be worn, loved, and lived in.  
At Aurora, I curate pieces that can be worn often and treasured for a lifetime — pieces crafted with lasting materials, quality craftsmanship, and character.

But like all precious things it deserves thoughtfull care. Treat your jewellery well, and it will continue its story for years to come.


Cleaning

To clean your gold jewellery, use lukewarm water, mild soap, and a very soft toothbrush or cloth. Gently clean the piece and carefully dry it afterwards with a soft cloth.

Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive materials, or aggressive polishing products, as these can damage the finish and details of vintage jewellery.

Daily Care

  • Remove jewellery before showering, swimming, exercising, or sleeping.
  • Avoid wearing jewellery during heavy manual activities.
  • Keep pieces away from chemicals, moisture, and extreme heat.
  • Store jewellery separately to avoid scratches and tangling.
  • Chains should ideally be stored flat.
  • Vintage pieces can be more delicate than newly manufactured jewellery and should be handled with care.

Pearls & Delicate Stones

Different gemstones require different levels of care. While sapphires and rubies are excellent choices for everyday wear, softer or more porous gemstones such as opals, pearls, coral and turquoise benefit from a little extra attention.

Pearls
Pearls are organic gemstones and are sensitive to chemicals, perfumes and cosmetics.
• Put pearl jewellery on last and remove it first.
• Avoid contact with perfume, hairspray and lotions.
• Store separately to prevent scratching.
• Wipe gently with a soft cloth after wearing.

Coral & Turquoise
These porous gemstones can absorb liquids and chemicals.
• Keep away from perfumes, lotions and cleaning products.
• Remove before swimming or showering.
• Store in a dry place away from direct sunlight.

Opals
Opals contain water and can be sensitive to sudden temperature changes.
• Avoid extreme heat and prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
• Avoid harsh chemicals and ultrasonic cleaners.
• Store separately from harder gemstones.

Emeralds
Most emeralds contain natural inclusions and may be treated with oils.
• Avoid ultrasonic and steam cleaning.
• Clean only with lukewarm water and a soft cloth.
• Protect from hard knocks and impacts.

Amethysts & Garnets
Amethysts and garnets are durable gemstones that are well suited to regular wear. While they are more resistant to scratching than many gemstones, they are not as hard as sapphires or rubies and still benefit from mindful care.
• Clean with lukewarm water and mild soap.
• Avoid harsh chemicals and strong impacts.
• Store separately from harder gemstones.
• Avoid prolonged exposure to excessive heat and direct sunlight, particularly for amethysts.

Sapphire, Ruby & Diamond
These gemstones are among the hardest and most durable.
• Suitable for everyday wear.
• Clean with warm water, mild soap and a soft brush.
• Regular cleaning helps maintain their brilliance.

Storage

Store your jewellery in a dry, soft-lined jewellery box or pouch away from direct sunlight and humidity.

Keeping pieces separated helps preserve stones, chains, and finishes over time.
